Smooth, Silky Hair
Okay this is a tip for people with straight hair. It’s all I know. But once you start coloring it? Frizz happens whether it’s straight or not, and when you are a busy mom with a start-up Internet company it’s a bit too much to blow dry my hair straight every day, or frankly ever other day. Okay FINE, every three days. But frankly, as someone with sensitive skin, showering every day is NOT the right thing for me. And since I use anti-persperant and I haven’t been exercising, I can push it. French style baby.
But I’ll tell you, since I’ve discovered this new technique that doesn’t involve blow drying? I’ve been jumping in the shower more readily. So. What do you do? Wash and go, and put in this product. Kelly swears by argan oil and I must say on paper it seems to be a pretty good product. You can even use it on cuticles and dry skin. The brand she’s been using is nTrance. You can get it in salons. I use Biosilk. We put a drop or two in our hair while it’s still wet. Comb it through. I separate my hair into two sections and twirl each into a spiral. My hair is long right now and cut into layers so this works to create a nice faint wave.
Then, when it dries? I put some more in. Only problem? I’m an Organic Freedom. When my hair dries I’m either out of the house or on a different floor deep into something else and then my hair does tend to frizz up a bit. Not always, but it really depends on the level of humidity outside and as summer quickly approaches I think it’s safe to say that in the East, I can rely upon humidity more than not. So we have a new member in our women’s networking group New York Network, Amy Leigh Gerber is our a hair goddess and she is partial to Morrocan Oil. So I tried it out and low and behold, it is the stuff. A golden elixir. So. Twice if you’ve got the cheap stuff, once if you’ve got the gold.
This is also the same thing I do when I’m blowing it out too. Works like a charm. Now, here’s another tip. Don’t bother styling your hair until it’s 80 percent dry. You can dry it with the blow dryer to get it to the 80% but don’t bother with the roller hair brushes until you’re almost there. The wet hair won’t hold anything and you’re just exhausting your arms. Now, we know that some stylists will tell you that is not true, that your hair has a memory, blah blah blah. And yeah, they can get it REALLY flat, but frankly, mine uses a flat iron to get it really really straight and silky and when I want that look? I get out the flat iron. Sometimes I just get out the curling iron too. And that’s why I tend to wait three days before I get my hair wet again!
