“Like cocktail rings for your room, artful drawer pulls give a dash of drama and make your décor feel way more refined.” Whoa, this tip from In Style’s “Extra Splash In a Flash,” January 2009 is not for my Classic self. I’m a little obsessed with all things matching. But, this is the reason I’m not an interior designer; sometimes you have to know when to match and when not to.

I think this tip is meant for Funs and Organics. You guys have such a knack for the inventive when it comes to decorating. Classics tend toward well, Classic decorating techniques, so we don’t really want to have two random drawer pulls in our bedroom that don’t coordinate with the rest of the knobs. Ditto for Smarts but I’d say you guys are more likely to do tasteful and traditional within various the genres (Traditional or Modern).

The ones In Style lists are from formentero.com and $259 EACH. Yikes—I could buy a new night table for that price. $260 for one drawer pull is a lot for a practical Classic to swallow even if I were a zillionaire. Plus, I couldn’t find them online anymore so I’d be remiss as a Pixie if I suggested this and didn’t give you a new source.

My Fun sister-in-law did a bunch of different drawer pulls from Anthropologie in her new kitchen and it’s funky and cool. They have a huge selection and they’re 10x cheaper than the ones In Style recommended. Classics & Smarts could do this if they wanted to update a dresser with similar pulls too (maybe all clear glass ones — slightly different on the side tables — not too matchy, but enough coordination to make you happy.)
