the unbearable burden of wrapping gifts.

We realize that many of you Classics have already taken care of this, but for those of you who haven’t, the worst part of holiday gift wrapping is the big mess of paper and ribbons at the bottom of the closet. Here’s an idea that’s pretty quick and easy to throw together.

These photos and link are from Organize Magazine, which was a great source for solutions, but unfortunately like many home magazines, has gone under. Right now they still have content on the web, but we’ll find something similar if they take it off.

Pretty much any organization solution could work for a Classic because they are naturally gifted at keeping and putting things back in their place. Plus a Classic probably has both a shoe organizer and wastebasket stored somewhere for “just in case.” Over the door

organizers are one of the easiest solutions for any type, no drilling required, however the metal hooks do look ugly and can hamper the closing of the door. Since Classic can often forgo beauty for function, they might not go the extra mile required and screw this organizer firmly to the door. There also isn’t a solution here for all the smoothed down wrapping paper they most likely have saved. If you use a clear shoe organizer, don’t organize by type. Organize by color. Make sure that each row has its own color scheme —it’s what make this solution pretty. If you use a regular one, just make sure to use labels, preferably the matching attractive tags you would use on a gift.

Funs are adaptable and care about how something looks. If they think a solution looks good, then they can adapt and let it work for them. They are detail oriented and would both love and notice that each row of the shoe organizers holds complementary colors. The wastebasket of paper rolls is as easy to take in and out of a closet as it is to take out and put back the paper rolls in the wastebasket. Pretty and easy! Their organization weakness is the follow through, however, so this shoe organizer might remain over the door for quite some time which would ultimately irk them more than any other type.

This idea would work for an Organic Structure and Smart Structure  — it’s visual, they can easily see what they have and easily put things away when they’re done with it. But like the Classic, perhaps even more so, they don’t see why the beautiful details are so important to this solution. But they are. The fact that each row has complimentary colors in each row is key, but we fear that maintaining this detail would annoy Smart Structure and Organic Structure and eventually it would look cluttered and stuffed.

Even though the beauty of this solution is in the maintenance of the details, usually better left to the Funs of the world, this solution is just too easy to mess up. Besides, where Funs revel in the beauty of detail, Organics and Smarts excel in the big picture. If the Organics and Smarts see this as a big sunset to create, meaning they like the way it looks, there will be no problems. It has to be on the back of a door (ie. not tucked away inside a closet…that would be too annoying to have to take two step to put things away. One is enough, and if they had to take the organizer off a hanger to use it they would quickly tire of maintaining it.) The Organic Freedoms and Smart Freedoms need to be forced into maintenance. A party will force them to clean up, just as having a bunch of gifts to give will make them go out and get lots of gift wrap supplies. They like to do things all at once, when they’re inspired. And this project is the easiest solution out there and they just might just have a shoe organizer lying around that they haven’t bothered to get rid of yet.
