I’ve never really gotten that excited about Father’s Day. Not because I don’t adore my dad, but because the usual gift ideas are so boring — ties, cologne, electronics, etc. — and my dad is so hard to get gifts for that I would rather save up the good ideas for his birthday and Christmas. So when I saw these “hand-made” gifts on Martha Stewart, I was intrigued, even though they involved more effort than I usually like to give.

The first idea, is to print out labels from Martha Stewart’s site — Retro Father’s Day Clip-Art Labels — and slap them on some of your dad’s favorite gourmet (or non-gourmet) foods. Most dads, regardless of their personality type, are going to have a favorite condiment or delicacy. Your practical dads, Funs (SPs) and Classics (SJs) will appreciate the practical, yet novel idea and your Smarts (NTs) will just appreciate the novel idea, practicality notwithstanding. Organics (NFs) are easiest to please and will appreciate the effort and thought that went into making them.

A tip that expands on Martha’s how-tos. Rubber cement is a great adhesive for this project, as is spray-mount, if you don’t have the time or wherewithal to get adhesive printing paper!
