The Means May be Different, but the Result Is the Same
Here’s a perfect example of how two disparate types accomplish the same goal of readying the front hall closet for the winter. When I organized my parent’s front hall closet, it took me, an Organic Freedom (NFP), up to three weeks on and off, whereas my sister knocked the chore off in an afternoon.
Actually, I’m still not finished yet. I waited until my get-it-done parents — Organic Structure (NFJ) and Smart Structure (NTJ) — were out of town so I could finish the job in my own time. If I’d done this when they were home, they would have gotten annoyed by the chaos of my ongoing project as they like to start and finish projects quickly. I like to take my time, however, and I also knew that their imminent return would spur me to finish, as that’s obviously sometimes difficult for me.
I left the labels to when they got back to get their input on them, and it’s a small detail left undone that I know my parents wouldn’t notice because, like me, they don’t notice the small stuff. I will take on making the labels when I feel like being artistic and spending time to make the labels look nice.
Now while my Classic sister not only finished her front hall closet in record time, she also took photos and wrote about it. So now see the difference from last week’s PixieTip and her account:
All I did was get rid of a few things. Moved a couple more and added two structural elements. Need a few more hangers and maybe some labeled bins to better use top shelf. Need to refresh totes and get all matching but will wait until they’re embarrassing because I’m a thrifty classic.
Moved my dogs overnight bag with her monogrammed raincoat and accoutrements to a central dog location with bin for food awaiting our next puppy 🙁
Got rid of stray gloves. Stored outgrown kids gear. Stored seasonal stuff like sun hats.
Put a shelf divider to separate summer gear. Dumped two scarves. Got rid of ugly gloves by putting them in dress up bin. Added hanging storage fit shoes so can use floor for hockey gear and scooters.
