Beautiful Stocking Stuffers
Yeah, the best and easiest bet for the ladies in your life is to just go to the drugstore and stock up on the trendiest nail colors, eye shadow, or creams. But the last couple of months I’ve been going organic because supposedly xenoestrogens like parabens are bad for you — they give you bad PMS. I’ve discovered that it’s really really hard to find any cosmetics without parabens in them. Oh and I also have very sensitive skin and can’t take perfumes. SO, even harder. But in the last couple of months this has forced me to find some great organic and sensitive skin stuff that frankly everyone can and will like because there is absolutely NOTHING offensive about any of it!
Now, full disclosure, I’ve had two months without any parabens in my cosmetics and I’ve also had two of the worst period of my life, so either my body is “detoxing” which I always doubt as a scientific principal or the whole paraben thing is completely bunk. But I will keep it up for a couple of more months regardless and in the meantime, let me share my discoveries with you.
We love this rocking product from Body Verde. Wrinkle Free Perfection Night Moisterizer. Its organic, paraben free and smells like lavender. Lavender is pretty much the ONLY scent I can handle, and this stuff isn’t synthetic it’s the real deal with essential oils. Can’t stand it when a perfectly good product is ruined by nasty perfume. Kelly also found some cool stuff that’s all natural/organic none of that petrochemical paraben fragrance stuff in it. It’s called YoungBlood and it’s pretty fantastic and makes my skin look smooth.
In New York City, all the drug stores are competing to look cool and modern and yes, hip. What it means is they have shorter display aisles which makes everything feel bigger and less claustrophobic. Oh, and they have terrible inventory. But, in some of the new stores like Duane Reade, they have Sephora price point beauty products. Like Esse and Opi nail polish (they’ve actually had it for a while, but now it’s in fancy lit from below display cases.)
I checked out 100% Pure in my quest to be xenogestren free and I was impressed with their mascara, powder, and eye liner. Very impressed. For moisturizer I found Lumene which is a bit pricy, but was the only no paraban, no fragrance, sensitive skin cream I could find. Literally. At CVS. It’s made in Finland of all places.
