TurningArt
My friend Tom’s friend, Jason Gracilieri, started this cool company, TurningArt. It offers you the ability to test out artwork in your home with a monthly subscription — like Netflix for artwork — with the unique feature of the subscription earning you credits toward original pieces of artwork.
This could work for all personality types with caveats. But, before I jump into how to use it by type, I’ll use TurningArt’s description of how it works to further explain the concept:
Discover art that speaks to you: Browse the work of our hand-selected artists & build a queue of artwork that you’d like to explore.
Experience new artwork in your home: Choose a frame (included in your subscription) & we’ll ship you a framed print of the first piece in your queue.
Exchange prints at your own pace: We’ll ship you a new piece of art at the frequency you choose. All TurningArt prints fit the same frame. Just swap out your print & send back your old one. Shipping is always free. New Art Every 3 Months $9.99/Month, New Art Every 2 Months $14.99/Month, New Art Whenever You Want $19.99/month
Buy original artwork when you fall in love: Every dollar spent earns you credit towards the purchase of an original work of art: Save up to 40% off each original work on the site.
This would be great for all personalities when decorating a new home. It’s daunting to find the right piece of art. TurningArt removes this risk. But, once you’ve finished decorating I don’t see Classics, Organic Structures or Smart Structures wanting to continue to swap out prints of original artwork. It would feel like we’re not done decorating, which is an exhausting feeling — even if nobody is ever really done decorating until you move. The only difficult I see is that the prints are all 19″x 23″ regardless of the original’s size. This seemed an impediment to Katie, Organic Freedom, but not to me Classic Freedom.
Who I think would enjoy a longer subscription would be Funs, Organic Freedoms and Smart Freedoms. They’d enjoy the fresh perspective a new print would bring every month. Thrifty Funs can justify the expense knowing their monthly subscription is going toward an actual piece of artwork. My caveats are that Smart Freedoms will eventually tire of the extra chore involved in shipping back the old artwork and Organic Freedoms love to have stories behind their possessions — as do Organic Structures — so they might fall in love with their first piece making the subscription thing less useful. But, they found the right painting without risk so voila: Life is easier because of TurningArt.
