This tip from “Glam New Closet” In Style, January 2009  is my favorite this week and the easiest. “[In your closet,] keep the walls soft or neutral to let your wearables shine, but perk it all up with a bright rug.” This tip seemed to counteract the idea to wallpaper your closet (see Monday’s Pixie Tip). But, I think the takeaway is do one “wow” thing in your closet so as not to overwhelm the main attraction.

It never would have dawned on me to put a rug in a closet but rugs bring together rooms, why wouldn’t they bring together a closet? Now, mind you, this tip is probably more for the walk-in variety closets. But, heck, if you had a long narrow closet, get a narrow runner in a vibrant shade. I bet it would look super cool. And even if you have wall to wall carpeting, this would still make things look awesome. (Katie is already getting ideas!)

While this tip could work for all, I think it’s perfect for the Funs, Organic Freedoms & Smart Freedoms of this world because the rug idea is a HECK of a lot easier to implement than wallpapering (Monday’s Pixie Tip.) This doesn’t preclude Classics, Organic Structures & Smart Structures from getting a cool rug for your closet. But if you were tempted by Monday’s tip, perhaps wallpapering is already on your To-Do list.

Best for Funs, Organic & Smart Freedoms, Good for the rest of you
