Okay, we won’t even get into the physical dangers of storing food in plastic. (Check out this site to see which numbers are safe.) Lots of plastic is safe to store food, but no matter what you’re using, ultimately, it turns into a mess of mismatched tops and bottoms in our cupboards.

We liked this solution in Better Homes and Gardens. Keep two bins, one to store tops, one for bottoms and use as needed. It takes up less storage space AND stays relatively neat. Sure, Organics and some Smarts might be storing a few tops that don’t have bottom mates, but there are worse things.

OR you could try out these new alternatives from Rubbermaid. I’ve had the collapsible kind for some time and they are MUCH easier to store, but kind of annoying when they collapse whilst holding food. Or try these glass containers. Or you could be thrifty (IF you have the space) and reuse your peanut butter or jelly glass jars. All of you Classics and Funs who reuse your plastic take-out containers? Throw them away RIGHT NOW. Very dangerous to reuse this kind of cheap plastic. Seriously.

Happy Friday (Stay well!)
