Ditch Your Old Space Junk Already : How to Dispose of Old Computers and Tablets
My old ipads and computers are stacked neatly behind a cupboard door in my bedroom and as an Organic Freedom, even writing this is not going to give me the impetus to throw them away as they’ve got a home that’s hidden and only writing this is reminding me that they’re there. I think most types have a hidden stash of old and retired electronics. Heck I’ve even been known to relieve my clients of them and then just added them to my own hidden stash.
But here’s what to do if you’re in the mood to purge:
- How to get rid of an ipad. Whether you give away your iPad or sell it, you’ll likely want to wipe it first to prevent others from accessing your personal data or Angry Birds high scores. To do so, launch the Settings app and tap on General. Then, choose Reset. Take a deep breath Organics, Fun Freedoms and Classic Freedoms, and then tap Erase All Content and Settings. Your iPad will restart and start up as naked as the day you first multitouched it. (If the new owner shares an iTunes account with you, tap Reset All Settings instead of Erase All Content and Settings; that gives the new owner a fresh start without wiping all the apps and music you may share.
- How to get rid of an old computer. For Funs, Organic Freedoms and Smart Freedoms do it when you get the new computer. And depending on whether it’s a PC or a Mac, take it to Microcenter, Best Buy, etc. or the Mac store. Seriously. Have them transfer the old computer onto the new, wipe all the personal information and then see if you can get anything for it online or just leave it at the store. They might even give you something for it depending on what kind of store it is. And if you’re a Classic, Organic Structure or Smart Structure, or have a stack of old unusable computers in a cupboard somewhere, check out this blog to see what to do with them.
