Fracture
I heard about Fracture from a Classic Structure (STJ) friend of mine and I thought this was a brilliant idea. They print your photo on glass rather than paper, which at first I thought, “Why would I want to do this?” but then I realized for myriad reasons. Foremost in my mind is that it allows you to have photos on the wall without framing and matting. This means certain personality types — Funs (SP) and Organic Freedoms (NFP) — that like to switch decor up don’t have to sweat the color of their frames.
One of the other reasons that you might want a photo printed on glass is that heat and dampness can make a paper photo stick to a piece of glass and warp it. Ditto for ink fading on paper. Obviously, these days photos can be replicated again easily. But it’s still a royal pain in the arse. Then there are some cool features where they can make the photo transparent so you could print a photo and then have it replace the glass in a small window. This sort of thing wouldn’t be for most Classics (SJ) or most Smarts (NT) but I bet a few Organics (NF) and Funs (SP) might think this idea was cool. They also have a collection of art and photographs that you could buy in this glass format as well. It’s kind of a cool way to do a poster of someone’s work instead of framing it.
How it works
You upload your photo to Fracture who in turn then prints it out in the requested size on to glass (or if you’re buying art from their website you just pick the size you want). Then they pack it up, send to you and you can hang it on your wall. They also have a display stand for smaller sizes. I did one for my recent family photo shoot and it looks awesome. Now I’m debating whether I should do a bunch that way and have my entire hallway filled with them. Hmm, rather funky and untraditional of me! How’s that for a Classic (SJ) living on the edge?!
