Health Kick Apps!
That’s right PixiePeeps, these Apps will totally help you kick some y’know what, whether you’re concentrating on keeping the inside of your body healthy or the outside looking good.
With congress fighting over health care right now, this might be a good time to take your life into your own hands and download the Web MD app (Sadly I think it’s only available on iPhones and iPads, but please let us know if we’re wrong.) While Web MD has a tendency to bring out the hypochondriac in Organics, Fun Freedoms and Classic Freedoms, it’s still a super useful tool, and with the app, it’s like you have doctor on call in your pocket at all times. (But this way you won’t annoy him!)
The symptom checker is easy to use and helps you narrow down exactly what your ailment could be. All you gotta do is pick the part of your body where the problem and check symptoms off a list. This is an especially usefeul app for those super cerebral Smarts, but a very cost effective solution for thrifty Classic Structures and Fun Structures.
Now, if one of your ways to keep healthy has involved exercise, then Nike Training is a great free app that actually will kick your you know what. Nike Training lets you customize the kind of work out you’re looking for — whether you would like to get lean, toned, or stronger. Once you pick what kind of exercise you want, pick your level and the app will give you step by step photos and guides to 30 to 40 minutes of exercise. I think this app works so well because all the women in the pictures make you not want to eat for a week. (And it will give you a great excuse to get an iPhone, because so far that’s the only platform it works with.)
Well maybe you have to eat, just not too much, and this is where the next two apps come in. Katie swears by Livestrong (available on all platforms) an app that helps you keep track of all the calories you eat all day by simply typing the food in. The only problem I have with this app is that is cost $2.99 and I like my apps free, (as do most Funs and Classics and the rest of us on a budget!) so a free alternative is My Fitness Pal (available on iPhone and Android, Blackberry on its way) The only problem is My Fitness Pal has less food choices (which for Smarts would make the $2.99 well worth it!) But if you don’t mind doing a quick Google search and finding the amount of calories in something every once in a while you can save yourself the cash.
These apps are great for detail oriented types like Classics who will stick with it, and Funs who might stick with it once they get results. Its an eye-opener for Organics and Smarts because once you know how many calories a White Chocolate Mocha Frapp has (450!!) just knowing that can deter me from wanting it, even when I’m not keeping such good track! As an Organic Freedom, I do find myself missing a few days, not wanting to type in the poor choice of eating a cupcake, and then forgetting about it until my pants are feeling a little snug! So this one is probably best for Classics, Organic Structures, and Smart Structures who enjoy crossing things off their list as much as they like putting them down.
