How to Hang Photos

Dear Katie & Kelly,

Is there a right way and a wrong way to hang photos? My husband thinks you can ONLY hang them on wall studs, which makes the room look insane. I think they have to be anchored to a piece of furniture or something. He refuses to listen to me. Please help us settle this dispute.

Dear Upset,

You are entirely correct. Unless you’re mounting some 100 pound objet d’art, you don’t definitely don’t need to locate a wall stud to do it properly. The best book we ever found that gives laymen fantastic, VERY specific directions on hanging frames is Lauri Ward’s book “Use What You Have Decorating.” Give this book to your husband and highlight the bits about hanging things then make him take down anything you hate and do it properly.
