It Is Called A Vanity, After All
“Seeing your reflection pouring mouthwash from a pretty decanter instead of a crummy plastic bottle will get your day of to a dashing start.” I’ve been obsessed with this pitcher and glass forever and have vowed that when I have a true guest room, it will be front & center. But, after reading this tip from In Style’s “Extra Splash In a Flash,” January 2009, perhaps now I have an excuse to get it before my guest room materializes.
This is in the same vein as yesterday’s tip to take the ordinary up a notch. I know this tip is not created by a Classic, or meant for a Classic, as it would NEVER occur to me to put mouthwash into a different vessel. Why would I do this when Colgate-Palmolive or P&G goes to such trouble to design and manufacture something for me? But, I must admit that if I had my mouthwash in THIS type of container AND had a sheepskin rug (see Monday’s Pixie Tip). I’d seriously start having delusions about actually being HRH Queen Elizabeth.
My point is that many a Classic like me will love the idea of this tip but have trouble following through because it’s inherently impractical and time consuming for such a small part of your daily routine. Whereas Funs often waste a ton of time on random, minute details—even if it’s against their practical grain, quality usually wins the day with you all.
This is for Funs because you would relish the detail and take the time to fill it (I’m thinking Fun Freedoms in particular). Organics would also enjoy the harmony of the design of this much more than whatever ol’ Colgate created (but Organic Freedoms will eventually neglect to refill it and then two years later wonder why there’s a random carafe in their medicine cabinet…unless, Katie chimes in, they really like it…mouthwash doesn’t run out THAT often, cereal boxes in containers on the contrary, run out much more often.) Smarts would do this in a second … as long as someone else is in charge of refilling the freaking carafe.
It’s $80 so not exactly cheap but a splurge whenever some mini windfall hits you. Crystal Carafe.
