Where to buy: 10-compartment jewelry box, $20, stacksandstacks.com. (Find more acrylic jewelry storage, starting at $10, at organizeit.com.)Real Simple’s article about organizing for your personality uses left-brain/right-brain science to divide us into two camps — the tidy and the um, not so tidy. And while this is true when you look at the extremes — Classics are extremely left-brained and tidy while Organic Freedoms and Smart Freedoms are extremely right-brained, and um not so tidy — those inbetweeners like the Funs, Organic Structures, and Smart Structures are a bit of both. But when it comes to retrieving, using and storing jewelry, it’s very clearly a right brained/left brained activity, with those inbetweeners using a combination of Real Simple’s ideas.

“Divided acrylic trays play to the left-brainer’s love of customization, providing the option to subcategorize (one tray for rings, another for necklaces) or implement a plan that speeds up a morning routine (accessories that are worn together stored in a row). All pieces are easy to locate, and earrings stay with their mates. High-frequency trays can stay out, while others can be stashed in a dresser drawer.”

We’re so on board with all of this. Its gorgeous! And practical. Classics and Fun will love all the little compartment and places to squirrel away their stuff, but be implore those extreme Classics to make sure they can put away ALL these trays, preferably in the top drawer of your dresser. Acrylic trays are meant to be HIDDEN. Please don’t cheap out! Use a decorative dish or tray for your everyday stuff, and besides, we know you’ll want to put it away, especially if it can tarnish.

Where to buy: Thalia marble sculpture, $425, store.metmuseum.org. (Find more busts, from $13 each, at statues.com.) Insect pins, $9 for 100, the Evolution Store, 800-952-3195. Ella large tumbler by Juliska, $54, clio-home.comReal Simple is also right on with us right-brainers, “You’re prone to tangles and forgetting what you own. A display keeps everything visible and knot-free. Hang jewelry from elegant insect pins on a foam-core board that’s been covered in velvet and framed. (Pushpins stuck into a small bulletin board are fine, too.) A bust can hold a special necklace (or five). Flip over a glass and perch a bowl on top for rings and pins.” These are lots of good ideas, although I worry about the bowl falling off the perch. Use some crystal putty to hold it in place. Also, you can find some bulletin boards already done here.
