Recycle and Donate — Clothes
1. Your garbage can. Seriously, there is nothing more naturally biodegradable than clothing. Even the polyester stuff will eventually disintegrate. Quicker than most of the stuff you throw into the trash. And it’s a lot cheaper than what it costs for your city to recycle your plastic. Plus if we’re talking natural fibers? Nothing simpler than adding positive compost to your local landfill. So never feel guilty about throwing your old clothes in the trash.
2. Okay. I know. Perfectly good clothes and shoes shouldn’t be thrown out. So. Give them to Goodwill, Housing Works, or Salvation Army.
3. Work clothes, wedding dresses. Bottomless Closet. Dress for Success. Brides Against Cancer. Vietnam Veterans of America (also does pickup.) Soles4Souls
4. Jeans. Yeah got this one from Oprah. But, get rid of those mom jeans and give them to Cotton from Blue to Green, which recycles old jeans and turns them into environmentally friendly insulation for communities that are in need.
