Shower Caps for Shoes

Having been born in the 70s, I never quite got the shower cap thing. Obviously, if I’d been born 10-20 years earlier when women didn’t “do” their hair everyday because it took forever and a day, I would’ve better understood the utility of a shower cap. Nowadays I might use a shower cap every blue moon but Real Simple has a unique idea for them.

A giveaway shower cap becomes the perfect wrapper for shoes when traveling, preventing them from dirtying clothes packed in your suitcase.

Now, my only knock on this tip is that so many shoes come with shoe bags these days and well, couldn’t you just put your shoes in a plastic grocery bag? My rebuttal is that the shower cap is probably able to fit over a multitude of types of shoes and is usually clear plastic so at least your plastic shoe travel covers will likely all coordinate. It’s more attractive than some random plastic bag. It’s a system and you will not look like some crazy weird person hoarding plastic bags in your master bedroom closet.

Classic Structures (STJ) along with Fun Structures (STP) probably already use plastic bags to house their shoes — if they don’t have cloth shoe bags that come with some higher end shoes — so you guys could switch over to this new system. Plus you can enjoy clearing out the freebies in the bathroom of the hotels you visit until you get enough shower caps for your travelling shoes. One thing Organics (NF) could do is use a big cloth bag to hold all of their shoes — often high-end purses come in them. This is what Kate, Organic Freedom (NFP) does as she doesn’t care about the condition of their shoes as much as dirt getting on her clothes in the suitcase. Smarts (NT), Classic Freedoms (SFJ), and Fun Freedoms (SFP) likely already have cloth bags but on the outside chance you don’t, the shower cap isn’t a bad idea in a pinch or better than a temporary plastic bag!
