The Best Little Wedding Gift in My Cupboard
Okay ramekins are things that I NEVER would have thought to put down on my wedding registry and once I had them I can’t believe I lived my whole life without them! I was like, “Yeah, how often am I actually going to make crème brûlée? Um, NEVER?” And while I must attest to never having made crème brûlée in these things, they come in handy in ways I never imagined.
I remember the first time I flew business class on American. That little ramekin filled with warm nuts was a revelation. (And whenever I am blessed to be in business class, I am still so thrilled!) But this little luxury was easily duplicated once I had my own stash of ramekins. They also come in handy with portion control. Perfect for a snack of nuts and raisins. Fits so sweet on a bigger plate.
I also use them to put my vitamins in at the end of the day. I don’t want to put them on the counter, and the ramekins are the perfect size. Then I can see and know that I have all the right pills. (I’ve tried to use those pill cases, but I never keep up. I think it’s an Organic Freedom and Smart Freedom thing because my mom does two weeks at a time no problem and she’s Organic Structure. But, I only have evening pills right now so maybe when I have more I will break down and get religious about it.)
Ramekins also come in handy when you’re having a dinner party. You can use them to hold candy, dip, olives, nuts, fruit spread, tapenade and because they are so small you can have them in different locations and for some reason people are more apt to dig into a smaller dish. It’s the same reason people will eat sliced cheese, but will hesitate to be the first one to cut the cheese. (he he)
