The Classic Trick to Low Stress Holidays

Done and Done

Classic PixieTypes almost rule the world. We make up about 40% of the population. We invented the phrase, a place for everything and everything in its place. Plus, we boss other types around unintentionally by making sure we hide or limit most piles or messes. Frequently, we are the stuff of an Organic Freedom or Smart Freedom’s worst nightmare. BUT, this is isn’t a self pity session for me (a Classic Freedom) if you must know. Instead it’s a revelation. Today, I will share the Classic trick to low stress holidays with other PixieTypes whose brains are not “classically” wired.

Here’s The Classic Trick to Low Stress Holidays:

Are you ready? The “secret” Classic trick to low stress holidays is a three parter: Do things WAY ahead of time, create a holiday specific To Do list (I prefer a spreadsheet but even pen and paper will do) and then set reminders or alarms in your calendar. I started my Christmas shopping two weeks ago. I’ve already checked off 3 relatives and I’m chipping away week by week. I write down what I bought for whom on my To Do List. I came by this plan of attack the hard way. I’d spend December running around like a chicken with its head cut off trying to get things done. I was missing those moments of pure holiday joy that I pictured having when starting a family. It wasn’t what I wanted.

Make Your Own Secret Sauce:

I’d never suggest that a non Classic should do things exactly as I do them because then you’re not likely to do it. SO, do it your way. Even though it’s already November, it’s not too late. Only Classics, start holiday planning in September! Start either a written or mental To Do list — Funs, Organic Freedoms and Smart Freedoms do better with the latter. Then put the holiday tasks you have to accomplish into your daily system. For some people this is simply email reminders or calendar alarms. Use the tried & true methods that never fail you. That’s really the trick to achieving the holy grail of enjoying the holidays without feeling harried. For you, this could mean you’re done prepping for the holidays right before you jump on an airplane. For me, it means getting everything done by December 19th! I’ll let you know how it goes.
