What to Wear with Leggings
After I started caring about fashion, or could afford to at least shop at J.Crew and not just Strawberry, I swore I would never wear them again, but. They’re just too darn comfortable and perfect for someone like me who is always trying to hide her belly. What to wear with leggings? Call me old-fashioned but I think you should cover your butt. I would assume that Classics are with that cover your butt edict, but my Classic 13 year old wears them all the time and frankly she’s got the butt for them. She looks good and somewhat appropriate. Frankly I’m just glad she’s not showing any skin.
I’m pretty much forced to wear leggings, or maternity pants because anything with a waistband or that’s too tight will make me sick. Seriously. IBS is the worst. I love the outfit on the left as they’re basically like wearing one step up from a thick tight. In fact its’ why I don’t waste money and leggings and buy mine at the drugstore. Pretty thrifty for an Organic, but I think Funs could easily get behind this idea, especially if the only part of the legging your seeing is the thighs and knees! I also have shortish legs so I always wear leggings with tall boots unless it’s Spring or Fall and the leggings are cropped; then I will wear flats and sandals.
However, I just bought a pair of “dress” yoga pants that are a thicker fabric than my drug store ones, and therefore they’re not as comfortable as actual Yoga Pants that should really be called “boot cut leggings.” But they look good yeah? It’s a new company called Betabrand, and they crowdfund new designs, so you can get a discount until a prototype makes it into production. Kind of cool. I imagine the early adopter Smarts among you can get into this.
With these I don’t feel the need to cover up my butt as it’s got fake pockets that look real enough. Also, because of my short legs and wider middle, I like the flare at the bottom as it gives you the illusion of long legs and detracts from a belly. The material is thick and strong stretchy material and my children, who are my worst critics next my sister, say they look sharp on me. But if you can actually wear pants with waist bands? Eh. Buy the real thing.
