Whole Lotta Latte
First, a special shout-out to our mom & dad today. They are celebrating their 43rd wedding anniversary. Happy Anniversary — and yes this is a test to see if you’re reading your daily PixieTip!
If you’re watching your weight and you love lattes, have one for breakfast. Our mom does this often. (Katie too!) I guess she’s tweaked our father’s secret “diet” tip, a.k.a. skipping a meal. You can do it with milk or soymilk. If you head to Starbuck’s, their tall latte with non-fat milk has 120 calories. In one drink, you get some calcium, a little caffeine, a little protein, maybe grab a banana and call it a day.
Although, now that I say grab a banana, I realize that almost every tip this week includes me suggesting that a banana should be part of your daily routine. And no, I am not on Chiquita’s payroll — I just really personally like bananas. So, perhaps grab an apple? Those travel better anyway. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve taken a banana with me only to realize, yet again, what a monumentally bad idea it was to put a banana in my bag.
And of course, not to be a broken record, you can get a latte with soymilk. That’s actually what my mom does. And she doesn’t head to Starbucks. She makes her own at home with her Nespresso machine, then puts it in a travel mug and heads off to work.
