You’re Washing Your Clothes Wrong!
This is another idiosyncratic detail oriented thing that I, as an Organic Freedom (NFP), shouldn’t care about but do. Actually I’ve found that lots of us do, probably because most of us have to do laundry and once we Organic Freedoms (NFPs) learn how to do something “correctly” and time consumingly, we are so annoyed that we get angry about others who fall short of our perfection. Let me be clear: I don’t like to do laundry, but when I have to, I do it right and time consumingly, which is probably why I don’t like to do it!
But this PixieTip isn’t about making life more difficult and tasks more time consuming, it’s about knowing how to wash all of your clothes so they last long and don’t get ruined. Sometimes this means taking the time to separate the laundry, which is kind of laundry 101. But there were things I learned from this article that make it worth your time like how to wash linen. Who knew you should steer clear of cold water? I obviously didn’t.
We wrote a PixieTip a little while ago about the best thing to do for your laundry is Woolite regular laundry detergent in cold water. And it still is (except of course for linen!). No more hanging all your clothes to air dry, thinking this will save them. The reason your clothes were getting faded and losing color wasn’t because of the dryer, it was all the naturally occurring crap in the municipal water! Woolite regular detergent actually conditions the water so that your clothes don’t fade.
So the best way to clean your clothes is to use Woolite, wash linen in warm water, and read this DailyMail article for all the rest of the little things you can do to get it right and make life easy.
