Dear Katie & Kelly: How do I talk my daughter out of doing pageants? I’m pretty sure she’s a Classic Structure.

Dear Desperate: It’s tough to deter a Classic Structure (ESTJ/ISTJ) from anything once their mind is set. Your best bet is to surreptitiously get her hooked on a different pursuit that you could easily support. As a generalization Classic Structures don’t enjoy being told what to do — then again, who does? Katie’s eldest (an extroverted Classic Structure) used to insist on doing pageants — much to Katie’s chagrin — and showed no signs of waning interest UNTIL she got really into dance. Now, no more pageants because she’s all about dance. Hazzah!

There’s hope for you yet.

All our best: K & K
