I wanted to invent something like this years ago. My version was going to be a comfortable inner shoe where you could switch the outer skin to match whatever you were wearing. This gal has essentially stolen my idea. Sigh. She sells flip-flops and ballet flats that change stripes. But, I am a big person so I forgive her.

Katie found Switch Flops a while ago and as usual she was going on and on about them. Also as usual, I was ignoring her. We don’t always have the same taste in clothing so I figured it was some loosy, goosy, untraditional type of shoe, i.e., not for me.

When I visited the website, I was struck by the fact that it is indeed a clever invention and every flip-flop should be changeable. I mean really, how many flip-flops do you need if you’re not a professional surfer or lifeguard? Anyway, I was really sold on Switch Flops when I realized that she also has ballet flats that can change.  They’re called Snap Shoes (plus some kitten heels) What Classic gal doesn’t adore her ballet flats? I’ve been wearing them since 1995!

The flip flops are not cheap but they’re not expensive. The base is $26.25 and then each strap is $12. But $12 for a new look for your flip flops is pretty good. The ballet flats are $64 and each snap is $12. Not cheap but compared to Tory Burch flats at $195, they’re affordable. Her website was a little bit wonky the first time I tried it but then the second time it worked perfectly.
